Camp Stonybrook
Waynesville, OH
Camp Stonybrook, located in Waynesville in Warren County has 315 acres
of open fields and wooded hillsides to roam. The Stony Brook runs
through camp and is a favorite site for creeking and fossil hunting.
The low ropes challenge course and swinging bridge add to the uniqueness of
this
camp.

Information
Whether it's camping in platform tents or lodges, Camp Stonybrook has something for everyone.
Open fields, trails and woods are used for troop camping, council
sponsored events, and summer program opportunities. For troop camping,
groups plan their own activities while enjoying the natural
surroundings. Council sponsored events are planned program
opportunities for individuals or groups to interact with other Girl
Scouts. Summer program opportunities provide girls with an
opportunity to attend Camp Stonybrook for Troop Adventure Camp.
Activities
Day use, workshops, lodge or tent camping, special
events, service unit camp-outs and summer program opportunities.

Resource
Center at the Sugar Shack
The resource center houses several program kits featuring Geology and
Health & Fitness
which contain multiple lesson plans and all of the required supplies.
Activities vary by age level, time constraints, materials needed, and the

Low
Ropes Challenge Course
The challenge course offers fun,
excitement and adventure within an educational experience. The
course is a series of mental and physical challenges, including
rope, cable and wooden obstacles. Each challenge helps groups to
explore and develop teamwork, communication styles, leadership
skills and problem-solving strategies. The Low Ropes course is
off limits unless your group is specifically registered to use
the course and a trained facilitator is present.

Blue Bird Trail
This
trail loops out behind Pine Tree Lodge. Trail includes a bird viewing
blind. Guides are available at camp in the Sugar Shack resource
center.

Orienteering
A
professionally designed orienteering course is located in the lower section
of camp. Maps and compasses may be checked out through the Girl Scout
Center. Additional maps are available at camp.

Creeking
This
is probably one of the most popular things to do while at Stonybrook.
The creek is great for fossil hunting, and offers a wide variety of
experiences...you will get wet and muddy!

knee-high - a lifeguard is required. |
