Camp Butterworth

Maineville, OH

Located above the Little Miami River in Warren County, Camp Butterworth has been a favorite Girl Scout campsite since 1935.  Each year thousands of girls and adults make use of this 160 acre site which has wooded hillsides and open fields suitable for a wide variety of outdoor activities.

Property Information

Whether it's camping in platform tents, glen shelters, adirondacks or lodges, Camp Butterworth has something for everyone.  Open fields, trails and woods are used for troop camping, council sponsored events, and summer program opportunities. For troop camping, groups plan their own activities while enjoying the natural surroundings.  Council sponsored events are planned program opportunities for individuals or groups to interact with other Girl Scouts.  Summer program opportunities provide girls with an opportunity to attend Camp Butterworth for resident or day camp.

Activities

Day use, workshops, lodge camping, tent or glen shelter camping, special events, service unit camp-outs and summer program opportunities.

Special Features

Resource Center at the Hub

The resource center houses several program kits featuring the Eco-Trail which contains multiple lesson plans and all of the required supplies.  Activities vary by age level, time constraints, materials needed, and the skills taught.  Visit the Resource Center webpage to view lists of the topics offered and sample kits.

Little Miami River & Bike Trail

The Little Miami Bike trail runs along the base of the Camp Butterworth property.  It is a paved path great for walking, biking or roller blading.  There are many canoe rental liveries within easy driving distance from camp as well.  For more information about this park contact:  Caesars Creek State Park:  http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/parks/parks/lilmiami.htm

Indoor Archery Range

The indoor archery range is located in the old stables in front of Freedom Lodge. Archery Days are offered each spring and fall.  These 3-hour workshops offer troops an opportunity to learn all about archery from a trained instructor.  For more information about archery, contact Mary Beth King, ext. 155.
